Team Introduction

The Egypt U23 national football team (abbreviated as "Egypt U23" and known as the Egyptian Olympic team, nicknamed "The Pharaohs"), is managed by the Egyptian Football Association. The team's main goal is to qualify for and participate in the U23 Africa Cup of Nations and the Olympics.

In the 2012 Olympic qualifying tournament, the Egyptian team defeated Senegal to qualify for the bronze medal match. Their performance in the group stage of the Olympic Games was inconsistent, ultimately finishing second in their group. However, in the quarter-finals, they lost to Japan with a score of 0-3.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, they made another appearance as the African champions. They drew with Spain in the group stage, lost to South American champions Argentina, and defeated Australia 2-0, ultimately finishing second in their group. They were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Brazil, who went on to win the gold medal, with a score of 1-0.

In 2023, the Egypt U23 team finished second in the U23 Africa Cup, successfully securing a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics. This marks the first time since the 1964 Tokyo Olympics that the Egypt team has achieved consecutive participation in Olympic football events.
