The Panama national football team (abbreviated as "Panama", English name: Panama national football team) was established in 1937 and is managed by the Panamanian Football Federation.
Panama has a rich history in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, having reached the finals twice in 2005 and 2013, ultimately finishing as runners-up on both occasions. In the crucial stage of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, Panama achieved a significant victory by coming from behind to defeat Costa Rica 2-1 at home on October 10, 2017, allowing them to surpass the United States, who unexpectedly lost in the final round, and secure their first-ever qualification for the World Cup finals as the third-placed team in the group.
During the World Cup finals, Panama lost to Belgium, England, and Tunisia in the group stage, finishing in fourth place; notably, in the match against England, defender Felipe Baloy scored the team's first-ever World Cup goal, marking an important milestone. In the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Panama again advanced to the final round of the group stage but finished in fifth place, failing to return to the finals.
