Sport Club Internacional (commonly known as "Internacional" or "Inter") was founded on April 4, 1909, and is a professional football club based in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The club's colors are predominantly red and white, and its fans are known as "Colorados." It is one of the most successful clubs in Brazil and South America.
The club has experienced several golden eras, winning the state championship eight times during the "Rolo Compressor" era in the 1940s, achieving eight consecutive state league titles in the 1970s, and experiencing a revival from 2000 to 2015, winning the Copa Libertadores twice. The team's rivalry with Grêmio, known as the "Grenal Derby," is one of the most famous derbies in world football.
After a good start in the 2016 Brazilian Serie A, Internacional began to struggle, sliding down to the bottom of the standings, including a streak of 14 matches without a win, setting a club record for the longest winless streak. The team subsequently fired two head coaches, Argel Fucks and Falcão, and recalled Celso Roth as the new head coach.
