Red Star Belgrade Football Club (abbreviated as "Red Star Belgrade", in Serbian: ФК Црвена звезда), founded in 1945, is a professional football club located in Belgrade, Serbia.
The club is the most prestigious powerhouse in Serbian football, with a history that dates back to the founding of the "Great Serbia" Sports Club in 1913. After being restructured in 1945, it was reborn under the name "Red Star". This team, based at the Rajko Mitić Stadium, gradually grew to become a football giant in the Balkan Peninsula. In 1991, they won the European Cup final against Marseille in a penalty shootout, reaching the pinnacle of European football, and also lifted the Intercontinental Cup in the same year, marking the club's most glorious moments.
As the dominant force in the Serbian SuperLiga, Red Star has maintained a record of over 30 domestic league championships. Despite experiencing a downturn after the breakup of Yugoslavia, the team returned to the UEFA Champions League group stage in the 2018-19 season and achieved a surprising home victory against Liverpool. In the 2024-25 season, they are competing in the Champions League again, with impressive performances such as a 5-1 home win against Stuttgart demonstrating their competitiveness on the European stage. From legendary players like Prosinac and Mihajlović to the recent additions of Veljković and Arnautović, Red Star continues to uphold the tradition of developing top players, writing an immortal legend in the history of Serbian football.
