Peterborough United Football Club (abbreviated as "Peterborough United", English name: Peterborough United F.C.) was founded on May 17, 1934, and is a professional football club located in the autonomous city of Peterborough in eastern England.
The team finished as runners-up in the English League Two in the 2007/08 season, earning promotion to League One, and then achieved the runners-up position in League One the following year, resulting in consecutive promotions to the Championship. However, they were relegated back to League One just a year later. After the return of head coach Darren Ferguson, the team was promoted back to the Championship through the playoffs the following year, but was relegated again in 2013. Subsequently, Peterborough United spent a long time competing in League One until they finished as runners-up in League One again in the 2020/21 season, earning promotion back to the Championship.
Peterborough United is known for developing young players, and its youth academy has produced several outstanding players, including Simon Davies, Matthew Etherington, and Adam Drury.
