Brann Football Club (abbreviated as "Brann", English name: SK Brann) was founded on September 26, 1908, and is a football club located in Bergen, Hordaland County, Norway.
The 1960s marked the club's first golden era, winning the league title for two consecutive years under the leadership of legendary player Roald Jensen. In the following decades, Brann experienced dramatic ups and downs, and in the 1980s, it was referred to as the "elevator team of Norwegian football" due to frequent promotions and relegations. In 2007, the team won the league championship again after a 43-year gap.
In European competitions, Brann's most glorious achievement was reaching the quarter-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup in the 1996-97 season, a match against Liverpool that fans still fondly remember. In recent years, the team achieved a double victory in the Norwegian Cup and the Norwegian First Division in 2022, and in the 2023 season, they secured the runner-up position in the Eliteserien, showcasing a strong resurgence.
The derby match between Brann and their city rivals Fyllingen was once the most explosive clash in Norwegian football, with several key encounters in the 1990s solidifying Brann's dominance in Bergen. The club has produced notable strikers like Torstein Helstad and has faced challenges such as fan protests and financial crises, yet it has always maintained the most loyal fan base in Norway.
