Team Introduction

Bristol Rovers Football Club (commonly known as "Bristol Rovers", and in English: Bristol Rovers F.C.) was founded in 1883 and is a professional football club based in Bristol, England.

The club was originally named "Black Arabs" and underwent several name changes before finally being established as its current name in 1898. Its official nickname "The Pirates" is derived from Bristol's maritime history, and locals often refer to it as "The Gas" due to its former home ground, Eastville Stadium, being near a gasworks.

The team returned to League Two in 2015 through the playoffs and finished third in League Two in the 2015-16 season, earning promotion to League One, but was relegated back to League Two twice in the 2020-21 and 2024-25 seasons. Bristol Rovers is known for its iconic blue and white checkered jerseys and has won honors such as the Southern League Division One championship, the Southern League Division Three championship, and the Division Three championship. The team's main rival is Bristol City, and the matches between the two teams are referred to as the "Bristol Derby," with over a hundred encounters in history.
