Team Introduction

Daegu Football Club (abbreviated as "Daegu FC", in English: Daegu Football Club) is a professional football club based in Daegu, South Korea, established in 2002 as a community club.

In 2003, it joined the K League as a community club, increasing the number of teams in the league to 12 alongside Gwangju Sangmu. In its first season, it ranked 11th, and reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. In the following years, it maintained a mid-table position in the league, and in 2006, it won the Tongyeong Cup, which was the first trophy in the club's history.

The 2009 season was poor, finishing at the bottom of the table. In 2013, they were relegated to K League 2, but returned to the top league in 2017. In 2018, they won the Korean FA Cup, earning their first qualification for the AFC Champions League. In 2019, they participated in the AFC Champions League for the first time, winning 3 matches in the group stage but failing to advance. They reached the knockout stage in both the 2021 and 2022 AFC Champions League, defeating the eventual champions Urawa Red Diamonds in the group stage of 2022, but were eliminated by Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

In 2020, head coach Andre left, and Lee Byung-geun took over as interim head coach. In the 2024 K League 1 regular season, they finished 11th and secured their place in the league by defeating Jeongnam Asan in the relegation playoff. Captain Cecinia is the player with the most goals and appearances in the club's history.
