Dynamo Dresden Football Club (abbreviated as "Dynamo Dresden", in English: Dynamo Dresden) was founded in 1953 and is located in Dresden, the capital of Saxony, Germany. It is a German professional football club and was a football club under the East German secret police.
The city of Dresden played an important role in German football before and during World War II. The local football team, Dresdner SC, won the national championship in 1943 and 1944. By 1954, Dynamo Dresden was left with a team composed of youth and reserve players, and by 1957 it had fallen to the fourth division, but Dynamo Dresden began to rise in the league.
In the 1970s, under Walter Fritzsch, they won five league titles and two cup titles, competing with Magdeburg for the league championship and becoming the most popular team in the country, often attracting 25,000 spectators, about three times the number of spectators attracted by other clubs. In the summer of 1990, Dynamo Dresden finished second, just behind Hansa Rostock, thus qualifying for the Bundesliga.
