Philadelphia Union Football Club, abbreviated as "Philadelphia Union", was founded on February 28, 2008. It is a professional soccer club located in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The Union participates in Major League Soccer as a member of the Eastern Conference. The team began competing in league matches in 2010 as an expansion team in Major League Soccer.
The team's badge is circular, symbolizing unity. The league is currently owned by Keystone Sports and Entertainment, with Jay Sugarman serving as the club's majority owner and chairman. NBA professional basketball player Kevin Durant is one of the minority shareholders. The current head coach of the club is Jim Curtin.
