Greuther Fürth Football Club (abbreviated as "Fürth", English name: SpVgg Greuther Fürth) was founded in 1903 and is located in Fürth, Bavaria, Germany. It is a German professional football club.
Under the guidance of English coach William Thon and left winger Julius Hirsch, who joined the team the previous season, Fürth won their first national championship - the 1914 German Football Championship. On May 31, they faced the defending champions Leipzig in the final held in Magdeburg, who had won the title three times. This thrilling match lasted 154 minutes, making it the longest completed match in the history of German football (the 1922 final was abandoned after 189 minutes due to darkness), and ultimately, Fürth scored a golden goal to secure the championship.
On September 17, 2017, by defeating Fortuna Düsseldorf 3-1, the club became the all-time leader in the 2. Bundesliga standings. Greuther Fürth finished second in the Bundesliga in the 2020-21 season, marking the club's second promotion to the Bundesliga in its history. Under the guidance of head coach Stefan Leitl, the team secured promotion by winning 3-2 against Fortuna Düsseldorf in the final match of the season.
