The Finland national football team (abbreviated as "Finland", in English: Finland national football team) was established in 1948 and is managed by the Football Association of Finland as a national-level football team.
The Football Association of Finland joined FIFA as early as 1908, but the national team experienced a long wait of 110 years without qualifying for international tournaments, until it finally reached the finals of the UEFA European Championship in 2019, becoming the last team among the Nordic countries to achieve this breakthrough.
In the 1990s, with the emergence of stars like Litmanen, the team's strength improved, but they repeatedly missed out on major tournament qualifications by narrow margins. Entering the 21st century, Finland, under the guidance of coaches like Hodgson, came close to qualifying several times but never succeeded as hoped.
The turning point came in the UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers, where, thanks to a solid defense and the outstanding performance of forward Pukki, Finland finally made a historic entry into the finals, achieving a victory in the final tournament. Although they failed to qualify again for the 2022 World Cup and the 2024 UEFA Euro qualifiers, the experience of reaching a major tournament for the first time marked a new phase for Finnish football.
