VVV-Venlo, abbreviated as "Venlo", was founded in 1903 and is located in the city of Venlo, Limburg, Netherlands. It is one of the oldest professional football clubs in the Netherlands, known for its traditional yellow and black striped jerseys, and affectionately referred to by fans as the "Golden Boys."
The club has won the Dutch Eerste Divisie championship four times in its history, with the most recent victory in the 2016-2017 season, achieving promotion with a significant advantage. In cup competitions, Venlo reached the final of the KNVB Cup in the 1958-1959 season, marking the club's best historical performance. In the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup in 2019, the team caused a major upset by eliminating Ajax, creating a classic comeback that is recorded in the club's history.
On October 24, 2020, Venlo suffered a 0-13 defeat at home against Ajax, marking the most painful loss in the history of the Eredivisie.
