The Colombia national football team (abbreviated as "Colombia", in English: Colombia national football team) was established in 1924 and is managed by the Colombian Football Federation.
The late 1980s and early 1990s were a glorious period for Colombian football. The emergence of stars like Carlos Valderrama, Faustino Asprilla, and René Higuita led the Colombian team to a stunning performance in the 1990 World Cup, where they historically reached the Round of 16. In the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Colombia finished sixth in the group, just one point behind fifth-placed Peru, and thus did not qualify for the final tournament.
On March 21, 2025, in the 13th round of the South American World Cup qualifiers, Colombia lost 1-2 to Brazil. On March 26, in the 14th round of the South American World Cup qualifying group stage, Colombia drew 2-2 with Paraguay. On June 7, in the 15th round of the South American World Cup qualifiers, Colombia drew 0-0 with Peru.
