Girona Football Club (abbreviated as "Girona", English name: Girona FC), founded in 1930, is a professional football club located in Girona, Catalonia, Spain, nicknamed "The Chihuahuas."
The 1935-1936 season was Girona's first season in the Spanish Segunda División, where the club ranked first in the group, but subsequently lost in the playoff stage against Celta, Real Zaragoza, Arenas Club, Real Murcia, and Xerez, finishing second to last and thus falling out of the promotion zone to La Liga.
In the 2023-2024 season, Girona entered the top 4 of La Liga for the first time, quickly rising to the top of the La Liga standings with 19 points after the first 7 matches of the season, marking the club's best performance in the top flight. On May 4, 2024, Girona defeated Barcelona 4-2, securing their first qualification for the UEFA Champions League and their first qualification for European competitions.
