FC Dynamo Kyiv, abbreviated as "Dynamo Kyiv", was founded on May 13, 1927, and is a professional football club based in Ukraine.
This team from the capital city of Kyiv was already a top contender during the Soviet era, and after its dissolution, it became the dominant force in the Ukrainian Premier League, winning the league championship more than 15 times, holding the record for the most titles in Ukrainian football. The club has produced three European Footballers of the Year: Oleg Blokhin, Igor Belanov, and Andriy Shevchenko, witnessing the glorious years of Eastern European football.
On the European stage, Dynamo Kyiv has lifted the European Cup Winners' Cup twice (in 1975 and 1986), and in 1975 they also won the European Super Cup, reaching the semifinals of the Champions League and the Europa League multiple times. In the 2024 Champions League qualifying rounds, they eliminated Glasgow Rangers but narrowly lost to Red Bull Salzburg. The club's legendary player Andriy Yarmolenko returned in 2023, continuing the club's legendary tradition.
As one of the most influential clubs in Eastern Europe in the 20th century, Dynamo Kyiv has won over 10 Soviet league championships and more than 5 Soviet Cup titles. After Ukraine's independence, they have dominated most domestic honors, including over 10 Ukrainian Cup titles and more than 5 Super Cup titles.
