Team Introduction

Jeju SK Football Club (abbreviated as "Jeju SK FC", English name: Jeju SK FC) is a professional football club based in Jeju Province, South Korea. It was established on December 17, 1982, under the name Yukong FC, making it the second professional football team in South Korea. The club is sponsored by a company under the SK Group and is a founding member of the K League (the predecessor of the K League).

In 1995, due to the K League's decentralization policy, the club, along with other teams from Seoul, was required to relocate. In 1996, it moved to Bucheon, and during the 1997 season, it was renamed Bucheon SK. Before the year 2000, the club used the Seoul Mokdong Sports Complex, and in 2001, it relocated to the Bucheon Sports Center. In February 2006, it suddenly announced its move to Jeju and was renamed Jeju United.

In November 2007, head coach Zheng Haicheng resigned, and in January 2008, Artur Jorge was appointed as head coach. His style was recognized, but the team ranked in the lower mid-table. In October 2009, the head coach resigned, and after an interim appointment of the assistant coach, Park Kyung-hoon took over. In the 2010 season, the team finished as runners-up in the league, qualifying for the AFC Champions League for the first time but was eliminated in the group stage. In 2017, the team advanced to the knockout stage of the AFC Champions League, but due to controversial refereeing, three players were sent off and they lost to the eventual champions Urawa Red Diamonds. They participated in the AFC Champions League again in 2018.

At the beginning of the 2019 season, the team performed poorly, leading to the dismissal of head coach Zhao Chenghuan, who had been in charge for nearly five years. Choi Yoon-kyung took over, but mid-season reinforcements could not reverse the decline, and the team finished at the bottom of the league, resulting in their first relegation. In 2020, they won the K League 2 championship and were promoted back to the top league. In 2025, the team was renamed Jeju SK FC, reflecting the parent company SK Group's stronger commitment to investment.
