Cardiff City Football Club (abbreviated as "Cardiff City", English name: Cardiff City F.C.) was founded in 1899 and is a professional football club located in Cardiff, Wales.
The club's most glorious achievement in history was winning the FA Cup in 1927, becoming the only non-English team to receive this honor to date. Cardiff City has long competed in the lower divisions of English football, and after being relegated in 1962, it took 51 years to return to the top division in 2013, but was relegated back to the Championship just one season later. In 2018, the team was promoted to the Premier League again, but was relegated a year later. In recent years, the team has had fluctuating performances in the Championship, finishing at the bottom of the table in the 2024-25 season and set to be relegated to League One.
The club was acquired by Malaysian businessman Chen Zhiyuan, during which the team badge and jersey colors were changed, causing controversy, but later reverted to the traditional blue. The "South Wales Derby" between Cardiff City and Swansea is an important rivalry for the team.
