Al Ahly Sporting Club (commonly known as "Al Ahly" or "Cairo Al Ahly", in Arabic: النادي الأهلي), is a football club based in Cairo, Egypt, primarily competing in the Egyptian Premier League. Founded in April 1907, the club is famously known as the "Club of the People." In 1908, Amin Sami proposed the name of the team to be Al Ahly Athletic Club (meaning National Athletic Club).
In the 1940s, the team began to rise among Egyptian football clubs, and in the 1980s, they won the African Cup of Champions Clubs in both 1982 and 1987. In the 21st century, under the guidance of Portuguese coach Manuel José, they achieved the same honor in 2001, 2005, and 2006.
Al Ahly SC is the most decorated club in Egypt, having won multiple Egyptian Premier League titles, Egyptian Cup titles, and Egyptian Super Cup titles. It was voted the African Football Confederation's Club of the Century in international competitions. With 50 million fans worldwide, it is one of the most recognized clubs globally.
