Team Introduction

The Latvia national football team (abbreviated as "Latvia", in English: Latvia national football team) was established in 1921 and is managed by the Latvian Football Federation as a national-level football team.

The team played its first match in 1922, drawing 1-1 with Estonia. After World War II, the team was unable to compete independently for nearly half a century due to the Soviet annexation, until it returned to international football after the country's independence in 1991.

Latvia is the only team among the Baltic States that has reached the final tournament of the European Championship. In the 2004 Euro qualifying matches, they surprisingly eliminated World Cup bronze medalist Turkey, making a historic advancement to the finals, and managed to draw against strong opponent Germany in the group stage. The team has also won the Baltic Cup championship more than 15 times.

In the 2024 UEFA Nations League, they lost to Armenia and North Macedonia, but defeated the Faroe Islands. In the 2025 World Cup qualifying stage, the team won their first match against Andorra, then lost to England, and drew with Albania.
