Team Introduction

Le Mans Football Club (abbreviated as "Le Mans", English name: Le Mans UC72) was established on June 12, 1985, and is a professional football club located in Le Mans, Sarthe, in the Loire region of France.

The team was originally named "US Le Mans Sports Club", and was renamed "Le Mans Union Club 72" in 1985, changing to its current name in 2010. Historically, the team has been the runner-up in Ligue 2 twice and was promoted to Ligue 1 in the 2005-06 season, but it has a relatively small scale and fluctuating performance.

The club faced a controversial relegation in the 2019-20 season due to the premature end of Ligue 2, and had previously lost its professional status in 2013 due to financial issues, dropping to the sixth tier of the league before gradually working its way back to the French National League. Le Mans reached the semi-finals of the Coupe de France in 1998, and the U-18 youth team also won the Gambardella Cup championship.
