A.S. Roma, abbreviated as "Roma", is a professional football club based in Rome, Italy. Nicknamed "The Giallorossi" (The Yellow and Reds), it was founded in 1927 through the merger of three clubs from Rome and is a landmark club in the Italian capital.
They won their first Serie A championship in the 1941-42 season, were relegated for the only time in the 1950-51 season, and returned the following year. They won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in the 1960-61 season and the Coppa Italia twice in the 1963-64 and 1968-69 seasons.
In the 1982-83 season, they won their second Serie A title, and in the 1983-84 season, they lost to Liverpool in the Champions League final on penalties. In the 1990-91 season, they won the Coppa Italia and lost to Inter in the UEFA Cup final. Totti made his debut in 1992 and later became the club's all-time appearance leader (786 matches) and top scorer (307 goals).
In the 2000-01 season, they won their third Serie A title, and in 2006, Totti, De Rossi, and others won the World Cup with Italy. In the 2017-18 season, they made a comeback against Barcelona to reach the semifinals of the Champions League. In the 2021-22 season, Mourinho led the team to win the inaugural UEFA Europa Conference League title, and in the 2022-23 season, they finished as runners-up in the UEFA Europa League.
