Team Introduction

The United States men's national soccer team, abbreviated as "USMNT" (English: United States men's national soccer team), was established in 1913 and is managed by the United States Soccer Federation.

The US men's national team made its international debut in 1904, suffering a double blow against Canada (0-4, 0-7). The establishment of the United States Soccer Federation in 1913 and its entry into FIFA the same year laid the institutional foundation for this emerging soccer nation. The 1930 Uruguay World Cup became a milestone for American soccer, as they unexpectedly secured third place, a record that still stands as their best World Cup performance to date.

Twenty years later at the Maracanã Stadium in Brazil, the U.S. team created the shocking "Maracanã Blow" by defeating the legendary England team, the birthplace of modern football, 1-0 in a historic match that remains one of the biggest upsets in World Cup history. However, they then fell into a low period lasting forty years, and in 1969, they were even blocked from the World Cup by Haiti. A turning point occurred in the 1990s, with the hosting of the World Cup on home soil (reaching the Round of 16 in 1994) and winning the CONCACAF Gold Cup (in 1991), marking the systematic rise of American soccer.

The performance of advancing from the group stage as the top team, surpassing England in the 2010 South Africa World Cup, and the achievement of winning the inaugural CONCACAF Nations League by defeating Mexico in 2021, mark that this "Uncle Sam's team" has firmly established itself among the strong teams in the Americas.
