Team Introduction

OGC Nice, a football club based in Nice, France, was founded in 1904. Originally named Nice Gymnastics Club, it is one of the founding members of the French Ligue 1 and was renamed Nice Olympic Gymnastics Club in 1924.

As one of the founding members of Ligue 1, Nice has a rich history, particularly during its golden age in the 1950s. They have won the French league title four times and the French Cup three times. During that era, they were one of the first French clubs to successfully introduce international stars, such as the Argentine Pancho González.

Over the years, Nice has often been in the middle of the league, not a top club. In 1997, they surprisingly won the French Cup, which is the club's most recent major honor. In 2019, the club was acquired by British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe, bringing new resources and ambition. In recent years, they have been consistently in the upper half of Ligue 1 and are strong contenders for European qualification.

Famous players include Héctor de Burgos, Pancho González, Víctor Nürnberg, and Joaquín Valle, the latter being the club's all-time top scorer and arguably the greatest player in its history.
