Team introduction

1. FC Nürnberg, founded in 1900 and located in Nuremberg, Bavaria, Germany, is a German professional football club.

Before 1963, Nuremberg won the league championship six times and the national championship in 1948. In 1961, Nuremberg won their eighth national championship, but lost in the final the following year. The team won the German Football Association Cup for the second time in 1962, which was somewhat comforting. The club's strong performance made it one of the 16 teams participating in the newly established Bundesliga in 1963.

In the 2019-20 season, Nuremberg finished 16th in the German Second Division and faced Ingolstadt, another Bavarian team from the German Third Division, in the relegation playoff. Ultimately, Nuremberg tied with a total score of 3-3, winning thanks to the away goals rule; the goal that secured their place in the German Second Division was scored in the sixth minute of added time in the second leg, saving them at the last moment.
