Parma Calcio 1913, commonly known as "Parma", was originally founded as Verdi Football Club in 1913. It is located in Parma, Emilia-Romagna, Italy, and is a professional football club in Italy.
After its establishment in 1913, the club experienced ups and downs in various leagues, and in 1968 it was liquidated and restructured due to financial issues. Under the management of Nevio Scala starting in 1989, the club entered a golden era. With the support of Parmalat, it was promoted to Serie A in 1990, and over the next decade, it won the Coppa Italia three times, the UEFA Cup twice, the Cup Winners' Cup once, the UEFA Super Cup once, and the Italian Super Cup once. In the 1996-97 season, it finished as the runner-up in Serie A, joining the ranks of the "Seven Sisters" of Serie A.
In 2003, the club fell into crisis due to the Parmalat scandal, and in 2004, it underwent bankruptcy restructuring. In 2015, it went bankrupt again due to massive debts and was relegated to Serie D. The same year, it was reborn under the name "Parma 1913" and achieved a miracle by being promoted for three consecutive years from 2015 to 2018, returning to Serie A and becoming the first team in Italy to accomplish this feat.
In 2020, the club was acquired by American owners, and in 2021, it was relegated to Serie B. In the 2023-24 season, it returned to Serie A. In the 2024-25 season, it dismissed the promotion architect Fabio Pecchia, and Christian Alvini took over, ultimately finishing 16th in Serie A to secure survival.
