Team Introduction

Plymouth Argyle Football Club, commonly known as "Plymouth", was founded in 1886 and is a professional football club based in Plymouth, Devon, England.

The team is nicknamed "The Pilgrims", which originates from the history of the Pilgrims sailing from Plymouth on the Mayflower in 1620, and the club's crest features this ship. In its early years, the club frequently moved between the second and third tiers of the league, and in the 1990s, it fell to the fourth tier. However, under the management of Paul Sturrock, the club won promotion twice in the 2001-02 and 2003-04 seasons and became a founding member of the EFL Championship. After being relegated in 2010, the club faced financial difficulties and was taken over, eventually dropping to League Two. In recent years, the club has gradually risen, winning the EFL League One title in the 2022-23 season and returning to the EFL Championship.

The team's traditional rivals include Exeter City, Torquay United, and other clubs from Devon and the surrounding areas. Plymouth has won multiple lower league championships and reached the semi-finals of the League Cup twice.
