Sporting Clube de Portugal (commonly known as "Sporting CP"), founded in 1906, is a football club based in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal.
The club's first stadium, "Sítio das Mouras", was the most advanced stadium in Portugal at the time. In 1936, under the leadership of Hungarian coach József Szabó, the team won its first league championship in history. In the following decade, the team made significant progress and entered a golden era. At that time, the team had players like Fernando Perrotto, José Travassos, Albano Pereira, Jesus Correa, and Manuel Vasques, who were known as the "Five Violins". Fernando Perrotto is considered one of the greatest players in Portugal at that time.
In 1982, the team, under the guidance of coach Malcolm Allison, achieved a domestic league double, but for the next twelve years, the team did not win any titles until 1995 when they won the Portuguese Cup final against Marítimo, lifting the trophy again. They also qualified for the Portuguese Super Cup.
In 2002, 17-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo made his official debut for the team in a match, appearing in the UEFA Champions League qualifying match against Milan.
