Seinäjoen Jalkapallokerho (abbreviated as "SJK", English name: SJK Seinajoen) was established in 2007 through the merger of the senior teams of local clubs TP-Seinäjoki and Sepsi-78.
In 2012, the team was promoted to the Finnish second division. In the 2013 season, the team qualified for promotion to the top league as the runner-up of the Finnish second division. Although there were controversies due to summer transfer strategies and fluctuating performance during the season, they secured promotion by finishing second in the league, and their home attendance of 4,798 set a local record.
In 2014, SJK won the League Cup in their first season and finished as runners-up in the league by just 1 point. In the 2015 season, the team defeated FF Jaro in the final round to win their first Finnish football championship, with key players performing exceptionally well, and the team was also named Finland's 'Team of the Year.' In 2016, SJK defeated HJK in the Finnish Cup final through a penalty shootout, claiming the club's first Finnish Cup title. After 2017, the team experienced multiple coaching changes, resulting in fluctuating performance, but they remained active in the top league.
