Excelsior Rotterdam (abbreviated as "SBV Excelsior"), established in 1902, is a professional football club located in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The club's predecessor was the Rotterdam Football and Athletics Club Excelsior.
In the 1945-46 season, the team was promoted to the Eredivisie for the first time, but was relegated after just one season. In the subsequent 1951-52 season, the team was promoted again. After the official establishment of the professional football league in the Netherlands in 1954, the team won the Eredivisie championship three times in 1974, 1979, and 2006, and has been promoted to the Eredivisie multiple times.
In the 2010-11 season, the team was in the Eerste Divisie and had a poor performance in the league, but surprisingly won the KNVB Cup in the same season, earning qualification for the UEFA Europa League playoffs. Since then, the team has been affectionately nicknamed "The Miracle of Rotterdam" by fans. In the 2023-24 season, under the leadership of head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen, the team successfully established itself in the Eredivisie.
