San Diego Football Club (abbreviated as "San Diego", English name: San Diego FC) was established on May 18, 2023, and is a professional soccer club based in San Diego, USA.
The club is a new member of Major League Soccer (MLS) and will officially debut in the 2025 season. It is co-owned by Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Mansour and the local Kumeyaay tribe's Sycuan Band.
In 1990, San Diego made several attempts to establish an MLS team, but all were stalled due to a lack of suitable stadiums. In May 2023, the league finally approved this new team, setting a record for a $500 million expansion fee. During the formation process, they signed Mexican international Lozano as the first star player and established a unique cross-border partnership with Tijuana club in Mexico.
