St. Louis City SC (short for "St. Louis City", English name: St. Louis City Soccer Club) was founded in 2019 and is a professional men's soccer club based in St. Louis, Missouri. In 2023, it joined Major League Soccer as an expansion team.
As the first team in the league led by women (with principal owner Carolyn Kindle coming from a well-known local entrepreneurial family), they broke multiple records in their inaugural season, becoming the first expansion team in MLS history to win all five of its opening matches. Forward Klaus also set a new record for consecutive goals by a new player. This Midwestern newcomer quickly formed a fierce rivalry with Sporting Kansas City, injecting fresh energy into MLS.
