Telstar Football Club (abbreviated as "Telstar", English name: SC Telstar) was founded in 1963 and is located in the city of Velsen, North Holland. It is a Dutch professional football club formed by the merger of the clubs Velser and IJmuiden.
Telstar serves as a talent development base for major clubs in the Netherlands such as Ajax and AZ Alkmaar. Each season, they loan a large number of promising young players from these top clubs, providing a platform for these rising stars to train and grow in the Eerste Divisie.
In the 2008-09 season, the team successfully advanced to the promotion playoffs as the champion of the third stage, but was eliminated in the first round by MVV. In the 2017-18 season, under the leadership of head coach Mike Snoei, the team achieved a significant revival, ultimately finishing sixth in the league, their highest ranking since the 1993-94 season, and reached the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup, where they narrowly lost to Feyenoord.
