Team Introduction

Tondela Football Club (abbreviated as "Tondela", Portuguese: Clube Desportivo de Tondela) was founded on June 6, 1933, and is a football club located in Portugal. The club was formed by the merger of Tondela Football Club and Operário Athletic Club.

The team won the local competition championship for the third time in the 1985-86 season, marking its entry into national competitions. The team was promoted to the Portuguese Third Division, but was relegated in the second season. It wasn't until the 2003 season that the team won the local competition championship again, returning to the Third Division. From 2005 to 2009, the team averaged seventh place in the three seasons of the Third Division. In the final year, the team signed center-back Diego, midfielder Gomes, and Argentine forward Piojo, helping the team win the Third Division championship and get promoted to the second tier.

On August 14, 2015, the team made its debut in the Primeira Liga at the Aveiro Municipal Stadium due to the reconstruction of their home ground, but lost 1-2 to Lisbon. Their first victory in the Super League came in the third round against Madeira, winning the match 1-0. Two months later, the team dismissed head coach Bento due to poor performance, and Petit was appointed as the new head coach. Under Petit's leadership, the team showed improvement.

The team faced relegation at the end of the 2021-22 season, but reached the final of the 2022 Taça de Portugal, where they lost to Porto. Subsequently, the team participated in the 2022 Oliveira Super Cup and became the runner-up.
