Toulouse Football Club (abbreviated as "Toulouse", English name: Toulouse FC) was established in 1970 and is an important football team in southern France. The club has experienced ups and downs throughout its history. Its predecessor sold its Ligue 1 spot to Paris FC in 1967, and it wasn't until three years later that Toulouse had a new team, "Toulouse Football Club."
In 1982, they successfully promoted to Ligue 1 for the first time, and one of their most glorious achievements occurred in 2023 when they won the French Cup for the first time in their history with a 5-1 victory over Nantes, reclaiming this honor after 66 years.
Toulouse is also known as a "promotion specialist" in Ligue 2, having oscillated between Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, and has won the Ligue 2 championship. The club has some experience in European competitions, having participated in European tournaments multiple times, including qualifying for the UEFA Champions League in 2007, where they were ultimately eliminated by Liverpool. The club has produced stars such as Fabien Barthez and André-Pierre Gignac throughout its history.
From 2020 to 2023, the club underwent changes, being relegated to Ligue 2 in 2020 and acquired by American investors. Toulouse quickly returned to Ligue 1 in 2022 as the Ligue 2 champions, and the following year made history by winning the Coupe de France.
