Sydney Football Club (abbreviated as "Sydney FC", in English: Sydney FC) was established on September 8, 2004, and is a professional football club located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The club's formation began with the bidding intentions of the New South Wales Football Association in April 2004, and after competing with the "Sydney Rovers" consortium, it ultimately became the only A-League representative of Sydney, officially established in November 2004.
In March 2005, the team made its debut with a 6-1 victory over Manly United, and subsequently signed former Manchester United player Dwight Yorke as a "star player", marking the start of the club's first A-League season. After a period of frequent coaching changes and poor performance, the team underwent reforms. In 2009, the team adopted a European style and won its first A-League championship in history. After Graham Arnold took over in 2014, Sydney FC entered a glorious period. He restructured the team and signed key players like Brazilian forward Bobo, securing the league title four rounds early in the 2016-17 season, breaking multiple A-League records, and then winning the Grand Final to achieve a double championship.
In 2018, former player Steve Corica, who had collaborated with the club for thirteen years, took over as head coach and led the team to victory in the finals against Perth Glory in a penalty shootout in his first season. The team became the first in the A-League to achieve 200 wins. During the later period of Corica's coaching, the team won the Australian Cup, but had a poor start to the league, leading to his eventual departure. Former player Ufuk Talay took over as the new head coach, and the team secured qualification for the second tier of the AFC Champions League, continuing the competitiveness of the established club.
