Angers SCO, founded in 1919 and located in Angers, in the Loire Valley region of western France, is a French professional football club. Its founder was Angevin Bessonnet. The club first competed in Ligue 1 in 1945. Angers has been inconsistent, fluctuating between Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, and even relegated to Ligue 3. In 2015, they were promoted to Ligue 1 as the third-placed team in Ligue 2, marking the club's 24th promotion to the top division.
