Austin Football Club (commonly known as "Austin"), founded in 2018, is a professional men's soccer club based in Austin, Texas. The club competes in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference. It began playing in the 2021 season and is the first professional sports team to play in the capital of Texas.
The club was founded by local technology entrepreneur Anthony Preckott. In 2022, it reached the Western Conference Finals for the first time. In the 2023 CONCACAF Champions League, Austin FC unexpectedly lost to Earthquakes, a team affected by conflict, becoming one of the biggest upsets of the season. In 2023, Borel, formerly an assistant coach at Manchester City, was appointed as Sporting Director. In 2025, the club signed forward Robert Taylor. This young team is known for its attacking style of play.
