FC Bayern Munich, founded in 1900, is a sports club based in Munich, Bavaria. It was founded by 11 players led by Franz John. Bayern is the most successful club in German football history, having won a record 33 national championships.
The 1960s and 1970s were Bayern's golden years. In the first Bundesliga season, they finished third and won the German Cup. In 1967, they successfully defended the German Cup title. In 1969, Bayern Munich achieved the first double in Bundesliga history, winning both the league and the German Cup, becoming one of the four German clubs to achieve this feat in the same season. In 1970, Udo Lattek became the head coach, and after winning the German Cup in his first season, he led Bayern to their third German championship.
In the 2007-08 season, Bayern made significant changes to the squad to rebuild the team. New signings included players who had participated in the 2006 World Cup, such as Franck Ribéry, Miroslav Klose, and Luca Toni. Bayern convincingly won the Bundesliga title, consistently topping the league standings each week, and defeated Dortmund in the German Cup.
