Boca Juniors Football Club (commonly known as "Boca Juniors", in Spanish: Boca Juniors) was founded on April 3, 1905, by five Italian immigrants who gathered in the La Boca neighborhood of Buenos Aires. It is a professional sports club based in the La Boca area of Buenos Aires, Argentina, primarily competing in the Argentine Primera División.
Initially, the club was primarily amateur and participated mainly in lower division leagues. In 1908, the team's application to join the Argentine Football Association was rejected. However, the team did not lose heart and made its league debut in the Segunda de Ascenso. In 1913, the league was restructured, expanding the number of participating teams to fifteen, and the team successfully ascended to the top division. Between 1919 and 1930, they won the league championship six times (1919, 1920, 1923, 1924, 1926, 1930). In 1931, Argentina officially implemented a professional league, and they won the championship in the first professional season.
They have won a total of 35 Argentine Primera División championships and 17 domestic cup titles. They have triumphed in the Copa Libertadores six times, and have won the Intercontinental Cup three times, along with four Copa Sudamericana titles and four Supercopa Sudamericana titles. Their outstanding performance in the 1925 European tour earned them the honorary champion title awarded by the Argentine Football Association, making them the most successful club in the history of Argentine football.
