Team Introduction

Bradford City A.F.C., commonly known as "Bradford", was founded in 1903 and is a professional football club based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England.

The team was originally formed from a rugby team with the aim of promoting the sport of football. The nickname "The Bantams" has two origin stories: one suggests that a bantam chicken perched on the team bus during the 1911 FA Cup final, bringing good luck and leading to victory; the other suggests it was named due to the early team colors resembling those of a bantam chicken.

The team historically won the Second Division championship in the 1907-08 season and claimed the FA Cup title in 1911. In 1985, a serious fire incident occurred at their home ground, Valley Parade, resulting in the deaths of 56 people, which led to a comprehensive improvement in safety standards at football stadiums in the UK. Bradford City finished as runners-up in the League Cup in the 2012-13 season and were promoted to League One through the playoffs.
