Team Introduction

NAC Breda Football Club (abbreviated as "Breda", English name: NAC Breda) was founded on September 20, 1912, through the merger of two clubs. There was some disagreement over the new team name, and ultimately Konat proposed using NAC as the team's name. It is based in Breda, Netherlands, and is a professional football club in the Netherlands.

The golden era of NAC began in 1920, when the club won the Dutch football championship in the 1920-1921 season, defeating Ajax, Be Quick 1887, and Go Ahead Eagles. The 1920s and 1930s are considered one of the most outstanding periods for the club in Dutch football. Due to special circumstances, the club relocated its home ground several times, eventually returning to Breda in 1940.

On October 7, 1979, during a home match against Feyenoord, the linesman was hit by an ashtray. The referee postponed the match, leading to a riot known as the "Ashtray Incident." NAC's subsequent status began to decline, and they also faced financial issues. On June 8, 1989, player Andro Knel tragically died in a plane crash.

After multiple struggles in the Eerste Divisie, the team returned to the Eredivisie in 1992, but financial problems persisted, and their performance fluctuated between the Eerste Divisie and Eredivisie. In 2017, they defeated Nijmegen in the relegation play-off final to return to the Eredivisie.

The Breda club's extremely loyal and passionate home atmosphere is quite famous in Dutch football, regarded as one of the hardest home grounds to conquer, with fans known as "NAC-istas."
