Team Introduction

Stade Brestois 29, commonly known as "Brest", was founded in 1903 and is a professional football club based in Brest. The club was originally named "Brest Armoricaine" until 1950 when it became "Brest Football Club" following the merger of five local sponsoring clubs. Brest is considered a traditional underdog in French football, nicknamed the "Pirate Crew."

From 1981 to 1991, during the presidency of François Yvinec, the team experienced a peak in sports performance, playing nine seasons in the elite league over the course of a decade.

Brest's journey has been filled with challenges, having experienced bankruptcy, relegation, and even restructuring from lower leagues multiple times. They have always managed to resiliently return to the professional stage. In 2010 and 2019, they successfully promoted to Ligue 1 twice, gradually establishing themselves in the top league. The 2023-24 season marks the most glorious chapter in the club's history, as the dark horse clinched third place in Ligue 1, setting a new record for the club's best ranking and historically qualifying for the UEFA Champions League for the first time. In 2024, they achieved their first victory in the Champions League, making history by defeating Sturm Graz and winning 4-0 against RB Salzburg away.
