ACF Fiorentina, commonly known as "Fiorentina", was founded in 1926 by the merger of two teams from Florence. The original team established in 1926 went bankrupt in 2002 and was restructured into the current club in August of the same year. It is located in Florence, Tuscany, and is a professional football club in Italy. The team is nicknamed "The Purple Ones."
Promoted to Serie A in 1931, Fiorentina won their first Serie A title in the 1955-56 season and became the first Italian team to reach the UEFA Champions League final in the 1956-57 season. They won the European Cup Winners' Cup and the Coppa Italia in the 1960-61 season, and secured their second Serie A title in the 1968-69 season.
During the Batistuta era in the 1990s, the team won the Coppa Italia and the Supercoppa in 1995, and finished third in Serie A in the 1998-99 season, qualifying for the Champions League. After bankruptcy in 2002, the club was restructured and started from Serie C2, returning to Serie A in 2004. In 2006, the club was penalized due to the 'Calciopoli' scandal but still qualified for the UEFA Europa League, with Luca Toni winning the European Golden Shoe with 31 goals.
In 2019, the club was acquired by Commisso, and in 2021, Italiano became the head coach. The team reached the UEFA Europa Conference League finals in both the 2022-23 and 2023-24 seasons, finishing as runners-up each time, becoming the first team to reach the finals consecutively in the tournament's history.
