Huddersfield Town A.F.C., commonly known as "Huddersfield", was founded on August 15, 1908, and is a professional football club based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England.
The team achieved remarkable success in the 1920s, winning the First Division championship for three consecutive seasons (1923/24, 1924/25, and 1925/26), becoming the first team to achieve a "three-peat" in England's top flight, and is widely regarded as one of the strong teams in England and even the world at that time.
After World War II, the team's performance gradually declined, and in 1952, they were relegated from the top division for the first time, subsequently oscillating between the first and second divisions for several decades. After being relegated from the first division again in 1972, Huddersfield Town failed to return to a higher league for forty-five years, until they were promoted from League One to the Championship in 2012. In the 2016/17 season, the team qualified for the promotion playoffs by finishing fifth in the Championship, and they made history by being promoted to the Premier League after defeating Sheffield Wednesday and Reading in penalty shootouts.
In their first season in the Premier League (2017/18), the team successfully avoided relegation, finishing in sixteenth place. The 2018/19 season saw a poor performance, with relegation confirmed six matches early, marking their return to the Championship. In the 2023/24 season, Huddersfield Town found themselves at the lower end of the Championship for an extended period. Although there was a glimmer of hope for survival before the final round, they ultimately lost 0-2 to Ipswich in the 46th round, regrettably relegating to League One.
