Hammarby Football Club (abbreviated as "Hammarby", in English: Hammarby Fotboll) was founded on March 7, 1897, and is a football club located in Stockholm.
The club made history in 2001 by winning its first Allsvenskan title, sparking celebrations among tens of thousands of fans in the streets of Stockholm. In 2021, they lifted the Swedish Cup for the first time, achieving another significant breakthrough.
Hammarby's history is full of ups and downs, having gone through a long period of being a "yo-yo" club. The 1970s and 1980s marked the club's first golden era, with a second-place finish in the league in 1982 and participation in European competitions. In 2019, Swedish football legend Zlatan Ibrahimović became a club shareholder, injecting new vitality into this traditional powerhouse.
Emerging from a working-class community, Hammarby has always maintained a unique club culture. Their matchday atmosphere is considered the best in Sweden, with fan-created chants and Tifo displays becoming iconic features of Swedish football. This team, which embodies the spirit of the working class in southern Stockholm, continues to write its own legend in Swedish football.
