Heracles Almelo, abbreviated as "Heracles", was founded in 1903 and is located in the eastern Dutch city of Almelo. It is a Dutch professional football club.
The club mainly oscillates between the Eredivisie and the Eerste Divisie. In the 2004-05 season, the club was promoted to the Eredivisie for the first time as the Eerste Divisie champion, finishing 13th in its first season in the Eredivisie. At the end of the 2021-22 season, Heracles ranked 16th and was forced to participate in the relegation play-offs. In the semi-finals, the team lost to PSV Eindhoven with an aggregate score of 6-1, ultimately being relegated to the Eerste Divisie.
On May 19, 2023, Heracles defeated Ajax's youth team in the final round of matches, a victory that secured them their third Eerste Divisie title in history.
Heracles Almelo Football Club won the Eredivisie title in 1926 and 1940, and the Eerste Divisie title in 1984, 2004, and 2022, while also finishing as runners-up in the KNVB Cup in 2011.
