Vitoria Sport Club (abbreviated as "Guimarães", English name: Vitoria Guimaraes) was founded on September 22, 1922, and is a professional football club located in Guimarães, Portugal. The club not only has football, but they also have general achievements in athletics, volleyball, basketball, handball, water polo, swimming, jiu-jitsu, taekwondo, and other fields.
In 1988, the team won their first national trophy, defeating FC Porto 2-0 in the final of the Taça de Portugal, winning the Super Cup. In the 2004-05 season, the club finished fifth in the league, qualifying for European competitions. The following year, they defeated Benfica in the quarter-finals to reach the semi-finals, but the team's performance in the Super League was poor, finishing 17th. In 2008, the club's president was convicted of embezzlement and sentenced to 4 years and 3 months, but a year later, the charge was changed to forgery, resulting in a fine of 4,000 euros.
In the subsequent 2012-13 season, under the guidance of coach Rui Vitória, they won their first Portuguese Cup title by coming from behind to defeat Benfica 2-1 in the final. The following year, the team reached the final again but unfortunately lost to the same opponent.
The year 2022 marked the centenary celebration of the team, after which they began a series of comebacks, qualifying for the UEFA Europa League in the 2024-25 season. Under the leadership of Borges, the team achieved 6 victories, with a total score of 17-0, and later set a record of 9 consecutive wins in UEFA competitions, which increased to 13 consecutive wins towards the end of the season.
