Sport Club Corinthians Paulista (abbreviated as "Corinthians", English name: SC Corinthians Paulista) was founded on September 1, 1910, and is a sports club located in the Tatuapé district of São Paulo, Brazil.
On the centenary of Brazilian independence in 1922, the club defeated the Rio de Janeiro champions, America, to become one of Brazil's top teams. That same year, they achieved their first state championship three-peat, and they accomplished this feat again in 1928-30 and 1937-39. The team fell into a low period in the 1940s, winning the championship in 1941 but not securing another title until 1951. In 1951, the team scored 103 goals in 30 state matches, and in 1953, they won the World Cup-like tournament in Venezuela, which is considered a precursor to the FIFA Club World Cup.
In 2004, the team faced difficulties due to management issues and a lack of funds, but head coach Tite and young players helped the team qualify for the Copa Sudamericana. In 2005, they won the Campeonato Brasileiro for the fourth time, but their 11-match record was annulled due to a match-fixing scandal, causing controversy. In December 2007, the team drew 1-1 away against Grêmio, marking their first-ever relegation to the second division in history. In 2012, the team won the Copa Libertadores for the first time and defeated Chelsea 1-0 in the Club World Cup final the same year.
In 2022, the team ranked fourth to qualify for the Copa Libertadores again, reached the quarter-finals of the Copa Libertadores, and lost to Flamengo in the final of the Copa do Brasil on penalties. In 2023, the team reached the semi-finals of the Copa Sudamericana but was ultimately eliminated by Fortaleza, facing relegation pressure in the league once again.
