Lecce Football Club (abbreviated as "Lecce", English name: U.S. Lecce) was founded on March 15, 1908, located in Lecce, Apulia, and is a professional football club in Serie A.
Reorganized and renamed Lecce in 1927, the club experienced multiple suspensions and promotions/demotions in its early years. In the 1975-76 season, it was promoted to Serie B and won the Coppa Italia Serie C and the Anglo-Italian Cup. In 1985, it was promoted to Serie A for the first time, and in the 1988-89 season, it achieved its best Serie A finish in history, placing ninth.
From 2003 to 2006, the team continuously competed in Serie A. In the 2004-05 season, the team coached by Zeman, known as the 'Offensive Maniacs', managed to stay in the league with a record of 66 goals scored and 73 goals conceded. In 2010, they won the Serie B championship, but in 2012, they were relegated to Serie C due to a match-fixing scandal, struggling for many years thereafter.
In 2017, the team jumped two divisions to return to Serie A. In the 2021-22 season, under the leadership of Baroni, the team won the Serie B championship again and was promoted. Koda was the top scorer in Serie B for two consecutive seasons. In the 2022-23 season, they successfully avoided relegation, maintaining their position in Serie A.
